I made it safely to Oslo. The snowfall last night cascaded silently from the sky, leading me to believe snow would cause problems for me on the drive in to the office. Wrong. While the roads were not completely clear, my car (even if stupid in so many other ways) handles ice and snow like a pro (why else bother with all-wheel drive, right?). Instead, three different groups of deer came springing out into the road at various points during the drive (at least on the Swedish side of the border). Add to this the fact that it was so foggy in places that I had to slow down to 30 km/h. There was almost no visibility at all (it reminded me of my first time in Iceland, and the nerve-racking, middle-of-the-night summer — Verslunarmannahelgi weekend — drive from Akureyri to Reykjavik with my dear friend Anna). Despite the obstacles and my inability to fall asleep for the much-hoped-for nap, I am here and have distributed the wealth of cookies throughout the office.
Picture time!
