The revival of baking


Autumn is in the air, meaning the sugar, flour, butter and other bits are coming out of the cupboard and going into the oven (only after being whipped into tasty morsels and delectable concoctions, of course).

I had a visitor in town and baked some of the famous white chocolate macadamia cookies and some M&M cookies as well as some Nanaimo bars (deceptively included in the list of “baked goods” – they are not baked). He took the cookies back to his country with him, and he turned the ants in the forest near my house into Nanaimo junkies (see photo evidence of ant going crazy with piece of Nanaimo bar on a leaf).

This means baking should soon resume in earnest. That said, today is a warm, sunny, clear day – baking can wait.
